Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi

This series garnered a lot of interest for Tahereh Mafi’s unique writing style. While many found it compelling others found it difficult to read.

With a blend of repeating in threes and a style of writing the characters thoughts with lines through the thoughts that she’s trying to push down, this book feels like a completely different read from any other in the genre.

From the blurb;

‘No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon. But Juliette has plans of her own. After a lifetime without freedom, she’s finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time – and to find a future with the one boy she thought she’d lost forever.’

Juliette must learn to trust her power, and have faith in herself and others, in this intriguing read.

The best part of this book in most assuredly the end quarter. With the world, backstory, and main characters lain out before us the book finally picks up pace to a satisfying conclusion which will leave many curious as to what happens next.

We applaud Mafi for putting a new style of writing onto the page and for her many successes with it. While the writing may not be for everyone it is certainly refreshing to have an entirely new style of book to enjoy.
